Biography
KLO, whose real name is Claudyne Hilaire, is a Haitian‑Canadian singer, songwriter, and multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Her artistic journey is defined by remarkable versatility, moving fluidly between music, hosting, acting, writing, and communication. Deeply connected to her cultural roots, she shapes a creative universe where Haitian traditions, Caribbean influences, and the contemporary sensibilities of the diaspora come together.
With the release of her debut album La Perle des Antilles, KLO brings to life an artistic dream she has carried for more than twenty‑five years. More than a first recording project, the album represents the culmination of a long personal and creative journey marked by perseverance, passion, and a desire to transmit her cultural heritage. Composed of eight tracks and sung primarily in Haitian Creole, the album pays tribute to Haiti, its cultural richness, and the emotions that bind generations together.
KLO’s musical identity is rooted in authenticity and sensitivity. Her compositions draw from Haitian musical traditions while embracing modern influences. Through expressive melodies and poetic lyrics — developed in collaboration with Rodrigue Adrien — she explores universal themes such as love, resilience, hope, inner light, identity, and self‑discovery. Her writing reflects a desire to tell deeply human stories and to create an emotional connection with her audience.
Beyond music, KLO’s multidisciplinary background enriches her artistic presence. Her experience in hosting, acting, and public speaking shapes a warm, expressive, and natural stage persona. Each performance becomes a moment of sharing, emotion, and cultural celebration.
Her commitment to Haitian culture is central to her artistic approach. By choosing to sing primarily in Creole, she contributes to the preservation and promotion of a language that carries memory, history, and identity. Her music creates a dialogue between Haiti and Montreal, between the memories of her homeland and the realities of diaspora life.
With La Perle des Antilles, KLO affirms her desire to make Haitian music shine beyond borders and to contribute to the transmission of her cultural heritage. This album marks an important milestone in her journey while opening the door to new artistic horizons.
