Ekip is a Haitian konpa band formed in 2020 by Shabba (Hervé Anténor), Steeve Khé, and D-Perfect. Created during a period of renewal within the Haitian music scene, the group developed a contemporary approach to konpa, combining konpa dirèk, konpa love, and modern Caribbean influences.
Formation of the Band
Ekip was formed following Shabba (Hervé Anténor)'s departure from Djakout #1, the band through which he had become widely known to Haitian music audiences. Looking to begin a new chapter in his career, he joined forces with Steeve Khé and D-Perfect to establish a new musical project.
The name Ekip, meaning “team” in Haitian Creole, reflects the idea of a collective project in which the different personalities and musical influences of its members contribute to a shared identity.
